Eleven Figurative Language

1.       What are some things a child might do in a situation where an adult, who has more power, is being unfair to him or her?
Cry, pout, ignore
2.       What lesson can you draw from this story (what can you learn)?
Turning a new age is just like any other day
3.        Pick out at least three phrases which you think are especially important to the story (what you might mark on a printed text.) Briefly describe why you chose each.

And when you wake up on your eleventh birthday you expect to feel eleven, but you don't. (This is the main point in the story)

Because she's older and the teacher, she's right and I'm not (This is how a lot of kids feel)

I wish I was anything but eleven, because I want today to be far away already, far away like a runaway balloon, like a tiny ‘o’ in the sky, so tiny-tiny you have to close your eyes to see it (This sums up the end of the story by showing how Rachel wanted to get out o school and forget that day)
