Jailbreak

Author's Note: Anger can drive people to do many crazy things. I believe Gaia will have enough anger to break out of the prison she is in.

An enclosed room, blank walls, blank floors, blank ceilings, and blank faces. There is no freedom, or fun, or happiness. If you go to jail it means you committed a crime, but Gaia Stone did what she thought was right. In the book Birth Marked by Caragh M. O’Brien, there is a city that consists of two parts: The Enclave where the rich live, and Wharfton where the poor live. Gaia had broke in to the Enclave from Wharfton, which is a very serious crime, to find her parents who had been taken by the Enclave. After being caught and arrested, she became focused and angry, yet she must somehow break out. My prediction is Gaia will break out of jail and seek revenge for who killed her father.

In addition to breaking out, Gaia will most likely try to kill whoever took her father’s life. Her dad died while trying to escape from the exact jail Gaia is in and her mother is going to be executed. When she heard her father died and her mother is about to be executed she crid with her fellow jail mates. “Gaia leaned forward, hiding her face in her hands. Her right cheek was swelling with a new bruise, and the scarred skin of her left cheek was familiarly rippled against her palm. Her new loss hurt far more, yet it had no outward scar. Her hair slipped around her like a curtain, and she gave a moan of despair. Her father. She felt a weight in her heart that made it hard to take a breath. It was possible that the one glimpse she’d had of her mother that morning might be the last she would ever have.” In order to seek revenge she must break out.

She isn’t the only one who wants revenge. Some people are realizing how strict and cruel the Enclave can be. The Enclave will take three babies per midwife every month. “’But why are you in jail?’ Gaia insisted. ‘Unbelievable,’ one of the other women said from the farthest bench.” While Gaia isn’t the only one in her cell. There were physicians who were simply accused for faulty tests and helping pregnant women have abortions. Many mothers with hopes and dreams of raising a child were crushed when they realized their infant must be taken to the Enclave. People besides Gaia will seek revenge on the leaders of the Enclave. Gaia could escape jail because someone broke her out in order to fight the Enclave.

Parents’ dreams of raising a kid were also crushed in The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games is a lot like  Birth Marked because Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games wanted revenge on President Snow for being in charge of the hunger games which Katniss was a part of.

In spite of the fact the odds are against her, I believe Gaia will escape. She will break out of prison because Gaia must continue on her mission to save her mother and probably kill whoever murdered her father. If she doesn’t succeed in breaking out by herself, others will most likely help her escape because they are starting to hate the Enclave. I guess we’ll have to read to find out what happens next!
