It Is Never Too Late

Authors Note: Bullying is a problem in U.S. schools. All of the students are afraid of the bullies and they don't believe they will ever change. That is where Scrawl comes in, a book about a bully with a change of heart.

56% of students have personally witnessed some type of bullying at school.  This all happens in real life and in the book Scrawl. Mark Shulman created a bully called Todd who has problems at home and school and decides to take out his anger by bullying and stealing. What Mark Shulman makes us realize is it’s never too late to change your life. Todd can change his life but never believed he could, just like so many other poor teenagers with an unpleasant life.

As a result of living a life that creates an unpleasant feeling, Todd and his “goons” have the worst lives you could imagine, and lives in reality are just the same. Even though this book is fiction there are people in these situations all the time. Todd has a talent for sewing and writing yet he fails to realize his gifts until later. He still turned his life around because it is never too late.

In comparison to turning around his story, many people believe they have nowhere to go when it comes to their very being. They are broke, hungry, depressed, and sometimes an alcoholic, yet little do they know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thomas Edison once said “Many people miss opportunity because it is dressed in overalls and is called work.” Todd almost missed his opportunity because it required much work to achieve but if he were not there his school would have been a pile of ashes. Even though he had a dreadful life he still made a difference.

Many people have changed their life from days of darkness to days of delight all because they found their talent. I learned many lessons from the book Scrawl but the most important is it’s never too late to change your life. I don’t know people who are homeless or live in an under average home, yet I know there are those type of people out in this world. Just remember this, no matter how bleak, bad, or horrible your life is, you can still turn it around.
